ISPRS - CATCON award
A software Computer Assisted Teaching CONtest

CATCON is the name of a software contest organized by the ISPRS Commission VI working group 2, Computer Assisted Teaching (CAT) and and sponsored by donor companies.

The main objective of the contest is to promote the development and dissemination of effective and user-friendly
- multimedia tutorials
- simulations and virtual environments
- information packages or data sets
- application software
designed and used specifically for computer assisted teaching.

In general, the tutorial, software or data set is preferred to be non-commercial and provided to users without licence charges or other fees.
Since many ISPRS attendees have been interested in this contest at previous Congresses, this is a very good opportunity to show the effectiveness and utility of your software or data set.

The assessment of the submissions by the contestants for each CATCON was based on peer review by the WG VI/2 Chair(s) and ISPRS office bearers.

The first CATCON in ISPRS Vienna Congress, 1996 and the second CATCON, in ISPRS Amsterdam Congress, 2000, were organized by Dr. Kohei Cho while CATCON 3 was held at the ISPRS Congress 2004 in Istanbul and organized by Prof. Mark Shortis and Dr. Pierre Grussenmeyer, chairmen of WGVI/2.
