Benefits of ISPRS Membership

The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) is the worldwide Society of professionals from research, applications and industry sectors, with a tradition dating back to 1910, which:

Conducts and promotes high quality research and development in photogrammetry, remote sensing, spatial information systems, related vision sciences, and their applications

Conducts regular forums for the dissemination of information on new developments in its fields of interest

Regularly publishes reports of activities and results of research, new developments and applications

Promotes and facilitates education and training programs in its fields of interest

ISPRS is a non-governmental international organisation devoted to the development of international cooperation for the advancement of the photogrammetry, remote sensing, spatial information sciences (GIS, SIS, LIS), related vision sciences, their integration and their applications.

ISPRS represents professionals worldwide, who are associated with research, applications and commercial development of equipment and software systems in its fields of interest.

ISPRS worldwide membership comprises:

Ordinary and Associate Members from about 100 countries

Regional Members covering Asia, Africa, North and South America, and Europe

Sustaining Members who may be individuals, organizations, institutions, or agencies who manufacture or distribute instruments, equipment or supplies, who operate or provide services in the fields of photogrammetry and/or remote sensing and/or GIS, or who are engaged in research and/or education

The benefits of ISPRS Membership:

1. Individuals from member organisations can participate in coordinated research in photogrammetry, remote sensing, spatial information systems, related vision sciences, and their applications, through ISPRS Technical Commissions and Working Groups

2. Individuals from member organisations are able to receive published records of discussion and the results of research in:

(a) the peer-reviewed ISPRS bi-monthly Journal

(b) the quarterly news and activities bulletin ISPRS Highlights

(c) the continuing series of the International Archives of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences

3. Individuals from member organisations can participate in regularly organised ISPRS International Workshops, Symposia and Congresses, which disseminate results of research and developments and demonstrate applications, in the fields of study of ISPRS

4. Individuals from developing countries can participate in education and training opportunities and programs facilitated by ISPRS, in the disciplines of photogrammetry, remote sensing and spatial information sciences.

5. ISPRS facilitates the formation of national and regional Societies and promotion of exchanges between them, to enable individuals to participate in their local activities

6. ISPRS establishes and maintains cooperation, coordination and liaison with related international scientific and technological organisations for the benefit of its members.

    Member Types

ISPRS is a society of national societies and organisations.

    1. Ordinary Members

A country, or a region thereof having an independent budget, which represents the whole community of photogrammetrists and remote sensing experts in the country or region, may join the Society through a single Member organization, which usually is the National Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.

    2. Associate Members

An organization which represents a community of photogrammetrists, remote sensing experts and/or spatial information system experts in a country, and which has a strong interest in participating in the Society's affairs, and which is not represented by the Ordinary Member organization of the country.

    3. Regional Members

A multi-national association of photogrammetry and/or remote sensing organizations established for the purpose of considering issues of common interest, promoting regional cooperation, convening regional conferences etc.

    4. Sustaining Members

Individuals, organizations, institutions, or agencies who manufacture or distribute instruments, equipment or supplies, who operate or provide services in the fields of photogrammetry and/or remote sensing and/or GIS, or who are engaged in research and/or education and who contribute to the financial support of the Society.
