
The ISPRS Foundation (TIF) Travel Grants for 39th ISRSE, 24-28 April 2023
TIF travel grants will be offered to enable deserving young authors, and officially designated Delegates, especially from developing countries, to participate in the 39th International Remote Environmental Sensing Symposium, 24-28 April 2023, Antalya, Türkiye.
Important dates are as follows:
- Applications for travel grants live on TIF web site: 11 December 2022
- Deadline for submission of travel grant applications: 31 January 2023
- Decision and notification of successful applicants: 15 February 2023
- Notification of acceptance of travel grant to Operations Officer: 15 March 2023

The ISPRS Foundation (TIF)
The officers of The ISPRS Foundation (TIF) will change from 1 January 2023 since the incumbents will complete their terms specified by the TIF Bylaws. The following list includes the current officers, who will serve until 31 December 2022, and the new officers who will commence their terms from 1 January 2023, and also become TIF Trustees.
Chair: Stewart Walker, USA, will be replaced by Mario Hernandez, Switzerland, from 1 January 2023
Operations Officer: John Trinder, Australia, will be replaced by Senthil Kumar, India, from 1 January 2023
Finance Officer: Marguerite Madden, USA, will be replaced by Jeff Yates, USA, from 1 January 2023

The ISPRS Foundation, National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD, France) and White Elephant Travel Grants for the Nice Congress

The ISPRS Foundation (TIF) awarded a total of 65 Grants to partially support travel expenses of stu-dents, young professionals and geospatial practitioners from 27 countries to attend the 24th ISPRS Congress in Nice, France on 6-11 June 2022. Included in these grants were registration waivers for 38 awardees by the National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD, France).

Donation from Indian Society of Remote Sensing
The ISPRS Foundation (TIF) is delighted to announce that it has received a generous donation of $10,000 (US dollars) from the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS). This will be added to TIF funds and used in the future to support grants, for example for travel to ISPRS-sponsored events. Stewart Walker, chair of the board of trustees of TIF, commented, “We are thrilled to have received such a major donation. We are extremely grateful to president Shri Nilesh Desai, his Executive Council and the members of ISRS. This will help us towards our goal of expanding TIF’s activities to support more students and early-career professionals in the future.”

TIF makes Awards to support attendance at XXIV Congress
Applications for grants to support attendance at the XXIV Congress in Nice, France, were assessed by TIF’s Grants Evaluation Committee. There are 63 successful candidates.
The grants are in two parts: fee waivers in euros (€), funded by the French organization IRD (Institut de recherche pour le développement); and cash travel grants awarded from TIF funds in US dollars ($). The amounts awarded are as follows:
- Fee waiver only – 10 awards for a total of €5,600
- Fee waiver and cash travel grants – 29 awards for a total of €11,550 for fee waivers and $17,300 cash travel grants
- Cash travel grants – 24 awards for a total of $17,300.
TIF is planning a small reception in Nice to honor these award winners, thanks to the generosity of a sponsor. Also invited will be TIF donors and trustees, and ISPRS Council. Further details will be circulated as soon as the date, time and venue are finalized.

Call for participation to the CATCON Software Contest at the XXIV ISPRS Congress, 6-11 June 2022
You are invited to participate in the eight edition of CATCON (CATCON 8), the Computer Assisted Teaching CONtest, that will be organized during the XXIV ISPRS Congress, Nice, France, June 6-11, 2022.
The main objective of CATCON, initiated by the Japan Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, is to promote the development and dissemination of effective and user-friendly, open-source and preferably non-commercial software designed and used specifically for computer assisted teaching for:
- multimedia courses and tutorials for e-learning,
- simulations and virtual environments,
- web information packages or datasets
in one of the areas of interest of ISPRS.
