Title: Ethical issues in spatial data analysis
Abstract:
Many issues of an ethical nature arise in the practice of spatial data analysis. They include lack of information about data provenance and data uncertainty; inappropriate and mistaken inferences; invasion of individual privacy; and bias in the selection of data. I review a selection of these and argue for a more explicit recognition of ethical issues.

Abstract:
It is a challenge to start a new scientific journal, and to help make it a platform used by many for publishing the latest scientific findings. In this webinar, I will show how we initiated the journal Spatial Statistics and how it developed over the past 10 years. Relations with scientific domains will be explored.

Title: Statistical Data Quality Descriptions and Concrete Questions
Abstract:
Descriptions of spatial data quality are based on statistical measures. The user, however, is interested in the fitness for use. Is this data set suitable for the question? Different approaches like error propagation or reputation assessment have been adopted. However, these concepts do not solve the basic problem: A statistical approach is only of limited value when dealing with a concrete situation. In the presentation, examples from navigations will be used to illustrate the problem.
