ISPRS calls for an Organiser of the 2027 Geospatial Week

The ISPRS Geospatial Week (GSW) is a combination of workshops organised by various ISPRS Working Groups and possibly other parties active in the areas of interest of ISPRS and is convened by a local organiser, led by the GSW Director, at a common location. The GSW is held biennially in odd years, preferably in the September/October timeframe. The first one was organised in Antalya in 2013; the next one will take place in Dubai from April 6 to 11, 2025.

Any individual or group of individuals interested in organising GSW 2027 can submit a written bid to ISPRS Council no later than four weeks prior to the opening of GSW 2025, i.e. on 7 March 2025 at the latest. The bid is to be presented in a special session during GSW 2025 and should comprise:

  • a list of tentative workshops to be organised within the GSW, including names of potential workshop organisers (note: a call for workshops can be launched at a later stage)
  • a tentative location and date
  • the name(s) of the prospective GSW 2027 Director, the local organiser(s) and the members of the local organising committee
  • an estimate of the budget and a schedule of proposed registration fees

During GSW 2025, the Geospatial Week Selection Committee selects the site for GSW 2027 from proposals submitted by interested parties.

Voting will take place immediately after a presentation of the bids. The result will be announced in the Closing Session of GSW 2025.

Additional details can be found in the Orange Book including a sample of the GSW contract to be signed. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the ISPRS Secretary General (
